Determining what services are covered by your health insurance provider can be like navigating through a maze. More frustrating is the fact that health insurance companies often issue rubber stamped denials to legitimate health care claims. Some common reasons health care plans deny coverage include:
- The service is not specifically covered under your policy.
- The service was not "medically necessary"
- The treatment provided was "experimental"
- You did not follow the rules of the plan
- Claims errors
At Adams-Bradham, P.C. we are familiar with insurance company tactics and we can help you receive payment of your health care claims. When your health care claims are denied you should take the following steps to preserve your legal rights:
- Read your policy or health care booklet
- Keep copies of all correspondence between you and the insurance company
- Keep a log of all phone conversations with the health insurance carrier to include names, dates, times, ect.
- Request that the insurance carrier correspond and follow up with you in writing
- Send letters via certified mail return receipt requested
- Discuss the denial with your health care provider.
We recommend that you contact us immediately so that we can begin to get your claims processed.
